Dr Anshuman Malaviya

Dr. Malaviya is a Consultant Rheumatologist with clinics in Cambridge and Chelmsford. He specialises in early arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis and has considerable experience using biologic drugs.

He earned his MBBS and MD from University of Mumbai and in 2006 obtained membership of the Royal College of Physicians. He then completed his rheumatology training in the UK with the East of England Deanery. He has since gained a wealth of knowledge treating arthritis and has enjoyed numerous leadership roles within the NHS.  He served as Clinical Lead of the Rheumatology Department at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge between 2019 and 2025.

Autimmune musculoskeletal issues are more common than previously believed.  Dr. Malaviya firmly believes in a patient-centred approach to care and is particularly interested in the links between arthritis and diseases of the gut and skin. Dr. Malaviya recognises that there are clear links between joint, skin and gut disease and has a pragmatic and patient-centric approach to the diagnosis and management of such conditions. His approach takes into account impact of family history. The impact of the environment in an individual with genetic predisposition plays an important role in the development of autoimmune disease. He also works closely with the oncology team in Cambridge and has experience diagnosing and managing cancer-associated (paraneoplastic) arthritis and cancer-immunotherapy associated arthritis.
