Dr Alison Ranger
Oncology
About
Her academic and clinical research has focused on the development and refinement of complex radiotherapy techniques aimed at delivering highly targeted treatment to the breast and regional lymph nodes while minimising radiation exposure to surrounding organs, particularly the heart and lungs. In recognition of her work in advanced radiotherapy, she was awarded a Proton Beam Visiting Fellowship by the Royal College of Radiologists in 2016, which enabled her to train at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas and gain experience in emerging proton beam therapy techniques.
Clinically, Dr Ranger has a specialist interest in radiotherapy for breast cancer, including heart-sparing techniques designed to reduce long-term cardiac risk. She also has expertise in stereotactic radiotherapy for oligometastatic disease and in the management of advanced and metastatic cancer using precision radiotherapy approaches. She has a particular interest in stereotactic ablative radiotherapy for spinal metastases.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
