At Balance Osteopathy, every consultation begins with a detailed discussion of the patient’s current problem and overall health history. This allows the team to understand the issue in the context of the patient’s wider health and daily function. The osteopaths also take time to learn about the patient’s current lifestyle and activities, as well as their goals for recovery.
Each consultation includes a general movement screen, focusing on functional tasks, activities, or sports relevant to the individual. This is followed by a hands-on assessment involving motion testing and palpation. The approach is designed to identify restrictions, improve mobility, and support a safe and effective return to normal activities.
Balance Osteopathy was founded by Dr. Ben McChesney, an Australian-trained osteopath who graduated from RMIT in 2002. His experience in progressive, movement-oriented multidisciplinary clinics inspired him to establish a similar patient-focused practice in Melbourne.
The team at Balance Osteopathy are trained in functional movement assessment, diagnosis, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions. Their treatment approach combines gentle soft tissue and joint mobilisation techniques with active stretching and movement-based rehabilitation. This integrated model not only relieves restrictions in the body but also equips patients with the tools to actively support their recovery and long-term wellbeing.
