The Laurel, part of Optimal Living, is a privately owned care home in Swindon town centre. The Laurel offers residential care for both old age and younger adult residents with mental health conditions, learning disabilities and complex medical conditions such as cerebral palsy, down syndrome and epilepsy.The home is a large Victorian property, next to Dean Park (another Optimal Living care home), with an enclosed garden for the residents to enjoy. The Laurel is designed and modified to suit the accessibility needs of their residents with limited mobility. There are five large (5 single and 1 shared) bedrooms at The Laurel, various areas of communal space, a high quality kitchen and a wet room. The home is close to local amenities, colleges, leisure facilities and education centres which provide the majority of the leisure and educational activities for the residents.The team are passionate about helping their residents maintain a good quality of life in the home. The team encourages the residents to fulfil their personal potential and participate with the home's leisure activities at their own pace. The Laurel pride themselves in using assistive technology to foster independence and inclusivity in their residents, regardless of their ability.
