About Dr Vasuki Jothi
Dr Vasuki Jothi is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with a specialist interest in vitreo-retinal surgery and medical retina. She is a full-time substantive Consultant Eye Surgeon at the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. Her NHS practice includes general and specialist clinics at the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast (Vitre-Retinal Surgery and Eye Casualty), South Tyrone Hospital Dungannon (Cataract Surgery), and Banbridge Polyclinic (General Ophthalmology). Dr Jothi also sees private patients at Kingsbridge Private Hospital Belfast, Kingsbridge Private Hospital North West, Hillsborough Private Clinic, Banbridge Polyclinic, and Cathedral Eye Clinic. She treats a wide range of conditions across all age groups including cataracts, retinal diseases, glaucoma, lid diseases, macular degeneration and eye emergencies. She has trained extensively in Northern Ireland, England and India. After qualifying in India with four years of specialist postgraduate training, she continued her training in Northern Ireland for a further seven years and obtained CCT in 2016. She then undertook two post CCT fellowships in Belfast and at Queen’s Medical Centre Nottingham specialising in medical and surgical retina before taking up her substantive NHS consultant post in 2017. Dr Jothi is a Fellow and Member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists UK, a member of the British and Eire Association of Vitreo-Retinal Surgeons BEAVRS, the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons ESCRS, the British Medical Association BMA and the Medical Defence Union MDDUS.
