About
Prof. Ford’s clinical focus includes advanced hernia repair, covering inguinal, umbilical, femoral, incisional, and abdominal wall hernias with expertise in laparoscopic techniques that promote quicker recovery and reduce post-operative pain. Additionally, he treats upper GI conditions through gallbladder surgery, gastroscopy, and anti-reflux procedures such as hiatal hernia repair. His specialist interests extend to soft tissue sarcomas, neuroendocrine tumours (NETs), and gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs).
After completing specialist training in the South West of England, Prof. Ford pursued fellowships in sarcoma surgery in Birmingham and Milan. He earned a PhD in cancer biology from the University of Birmingham during a Cancer Research UK Clinical Research Fellowship. His research focuses on improving outcomes for sarcoma patients alongside this he serves as an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Birmingham.
Prof. Ford is dedicated to delivering personalised, evidence-based surgical care, supported by memberships in professional bodies including the Association of Upper GI Surgeons and the British Sarcoma Group.
