About

Ms Sarah Addison is a highly experienced Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon offering private care at The Priory Hospital and The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham. She provides expert assessment and treatment for a wide range of colorectal and general surgical conditions.

Ms Addison graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1996 and completed both core and higher surgical training across the West Midlands. Early in her career, she undertook laboratory research in East Anglia, focusing on colonic calcium signalling, before returning to complete her registrar training in general and colorectal surgery in 2009.

Her specialist development was further enhanced by a regional travelling fellowship to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St Louis (USA), where she trained in advanced laparoscopic surgery and peritoneal cancer techniques. She subsequently became a consultant at Walsall Manor Hospital before joining the colorectal team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in 2018.

Conditions commonly treated:

• Colorectal cancer

• Functional bowel disorders

• Hernias (including inguinal, umbilical, and incisional hernias)

Specialist treatments offered:

– Advanced laparoscopic colorectal surgery

– Minimally invasive hernia repair

– Comprehensive assessment and management of benign colorectal conditions

Ms Addison is known for her patient-centred approach, ensuring clear communication, evidence-based treatment, and personalised care tailored to each patient’s needs. Her NHS practice at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham allows her to maintain a high standard of care across both private and public services.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
