Initial consultation 30 minutes, review consultation
15 minutes. If required a nasal endoscopy, ear microsuction or pure tone
audiogram may be undertaken at the first appointment.
You are welcome to bring a relative or friend to an
initial consultation if you so wish. Shortly after your consultation (usually
within a week) you will receive a letter from Mr Bingham (copy to your GP)
outlining the outcome of your consultation including information on your individual
case management. In certain conditions you may, also, receive a supportive
information sheet.
Understanding you ENT problem in the context of your
life, social circumstances and interests is an important aspect of the
consultation.
At a child's consultation Mr Bingham is likely to
spend the first few minutes mostly speaking to the child.
Clinical Interests
· General Otolaryngology
· Nasal and sinus disease, particularly endoscopic sinus
surgery
· External and middle ear disease, including hearing
loss and ear wax
· General paediatric otolaryngology and audiology
· Snoring and sleep apnoea
· Tonsillar problems
· Vertigo or dizziness
· ENT disease and its effect on athletic performance
Mr Bingham trained in Dundee, Bristol & Toronto.
At the University of Toronto he worked in ear pathology and undertook the first
training fellowship in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery. He has been a Consultant ENT Surgeon for 28
years in Glasgow. He co-founded the Scottish Sinus Surgery course and organised
the Scottish national tonsil audit. Mr Bingham had a large paediatric audiology
and ENT practice in South Glasgow and an adult practice focused on nasal and
sinus disease.
He is the past chair of the Intercollegiate FRCS Examination
in Otolaryngology and the immediate past president of ENT UK. His contributions
as president of ENT UK concerned ENT departmental standards, consultant
education, surgeon revalidation and how to keep a surgeon "emergency safe".
On the subject of Ear, Nose and Throat disease he is
the author of 5 textbooks and has contributed 6 chapters to other textbooks. He
has written over 45 peer reviewed journal articles and currently reviews
submitted articles for the Journal of Laryngology and Otology.
