Dr Edward Alabraba

About
Dr Alabraba obtained his medical degree from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 1999. He then completed his junior doctor training in centres across the West Midlands. He was later awarded a research grant by the UK Medical Research Council and completed a research project at the University of Birmingham Medical School surrounding immune cells in liver inflammation. He was awarded a PhD for his prestigious research work. He then completed his surgical training alongside another research project funded by the NIHR.
After completing his surgical training, Dr Alabraba was registered as a Specialist in General Surgery by the General Medical Council and received his Certificate of Completion of Training. He completed a fellowship in Hepatobiliary Surgery at the Queen Medical Centre and soon after began his role as a Consultant in General & Hepatobiliary Surgery.
Dr Alabraba has special interests in the management of both acute and chronic pancreatitis and neuroendocrine tumours. He has expertise in liver and pancreas surgery, as well as gallbladder surgery, including laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.
Outside of his clinical work, Dr Alabraba is the Governance Lead for Emergency General Surgery, the National Emergency Laparotomy Audit at Queen Medical Centre Nottingham, as well as the local Principal Investigator for the UK Multicentre Sunflower clinical trial investigating gallstone management.
