Dr. Alex Navarro is a Consultant HPB (Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary), General, and Major Trauma Surgeon at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) and The Park Hospital Nottingham. He has been an NHS Consultant since 2014 and currently serves as the Head of Service for HPB Surgery at NUH. Dr. Navarro specialises in the surgical management of diseases affecting the gallbladder, liver, pancreas, and bile duct system, with advanced expertise in laparoscopic minimally-invasive surgery, including hernia repair.

Dr. Navarro graduated from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 2002. His early surgical training was completed in the North East, with further training in Yorkshire and the East Midlands. He later completed a 12-month fellowship in the HPB and Liver Transplant Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Dr. Navarro holds a PhD and is an established research scientist, having authored 31 peer-reviewed publications to date.

With extensive experience as a consultant, Dr. Navarro has achieved excellent results in both routine operations, such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy (keyhole gallbladder removal) and hernia repair, and more complex specialist HPB procedures. He has performed over 2000 gallbladder removal cases with an impeccable track record, having not encountered a single case of bile duct injury.
