About Dr Joseph De Bono
Dr. Joseph Paul De Bono is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist. He pursued his medical education at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. His general medical training took place in Nottingham, followed by specialised cardiology training in Cambridge and Norwich. Dr. De Bono dedicated three years to researching the effects of exercise on heart rhythm, an endeavor that earned him a HRUK young investigator award and a Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Oxford. He completed his specialist training in cardiac electrophysiology at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, concluding his training within a year as the Senior Electrophysiology Fellow at the Heart Hospital in London. During this period, he also served as a lecturer at St Hugh’s College, Oxford. Dr. De Bono is proficient in all aspects of managing abnormal heart rhythms, including ablation, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, and medical treatment. He has a particular interest in all types of arrhythmia and conducted a PhD in Exercise Physiology. Currently, Dr. De Bono practices at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. He has served as an examiner for the British Heart Rhythm Society and was elected to its council in 2017. He has also been a member of the British Cardiac Society programme committee.
