About Dr Clare Defty
Dr Clare Defty completed undergraduate training at Guy's, King's, and St Thomas' Medical School, London, where she was awarded a medical scholarship. After postgraduate medical training at Barts and The London Hospitals, she joined the West Midlands Higher Specialist Training Programme in Dermatology and received Specialist Accreditation in 2012. During this time she published numerous abstracts and articles in peer-reviewed journals and regularly presented her research work at national and international academic meetings. Clare is an experienced dermatologist offering comprehensive assessment and treatment of inflammatory conditions of the skin, hair and nails, such as acne, eczema, psoriasis and other rashes. She also has a subspecialty interest in skin cancer risk assessment, diagnosis and treatment. She has been Consultant Lead for Skin Cancer at Walsall Manor Hospitals since 2013 and is an active member of the West Midlands Skin Cancer Expert Advisory Group. She has received advanced training in dermatological surgery and regularly performs complex surgical procedures. Clare also has a specialist interest in undergraduate teaching, has previously been Speciality Lead for Dermatology at the University of Birmingham and is now Head of Undergradate Academy at Walsall.
