About

Dr Antonio Creta is a Consultant Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist at the Barts Heart Centre in London, one of the largest cardiac centres in Europe. He also serves as Clinical Governance Lead for the Department of Cardiac Electrophysiology. His clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders, and he regularly assesses patients presenting with symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness, syncope, chest discomfort, fatigue, and shortness of breath.

Dr Creta performs a high volume of advanced electrophysiology procedures each year, including catheter ablation and the implantation of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators. He uses a range of contemporary technologies, including pulse field ablation, three-dimensional cardiac mapping, and leadless pacemaker systems. In addition to arrhythmia management, he has an interest in preventive cardiology, supporting patients in managing cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertension and hypercholesterolaemia.

Dr Creta qualified in medicine from the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome in 2011 and completed specialist training in cardiology in Italy before undertaking a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac devices at the Barts Heart Centre. He was appointed Consultant Cardiologist in 2020. He holds a PhD focused on atrial fibrillation and has undertaken postgraduate study in Health Economics at the London School of Economics.

He is actively involved in cardiovascular research and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to international guidance on atrial fibrillation ablation.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
