About Dr Andrew Newcomb
Dr Andrew Newcomb is a well experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Melbourne Cardiothoracic Surgeons. He has expertise in all areas of cardiothoracic surgery and specialises in complex valve surgery. He also sees private patients at Albury Private Hospital, Knox Private Hospital and St Vincent's Private Hospital, where he is the Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He sees patients with various cardiothoracic conditions, such as valve issues, arrhythmias, congenital heart disease, heart failure and coronary artery disease. He has expertise in numerous surgical procedures to treat and manage these conditions, with special interests in the following: arterial revascularisation, complex aortic surgery, minimally invasive valve repair/replacement, valve-sparing aortic root replacement (David procedure) and pacemaker implantation. Dr Newcomb completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland, Australia in 1995, subsequently completing his training in centres across Victoria and Queensland. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2007 and a Fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand in 2009. He also holds professional memberships with the European Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Australia and New Zealand Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
