About Dr Adam Zimmet

Dr Adam Zimmet is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon with expertise in all areas of both cardiac and thoracic surgery. He completed his medical degree at the Flinders University in 1997 and was awarded his Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2009. In 2009, he undertook his postgraduate training in Adult Cardiothoracic and Transplant Surgery in the United States at The University of Virginia Health System. Dr Zimmet currently holds a full-time appointment at The Alfred Hospital where he performs all adult cardiac and thoracic procedures, including heart and lung transplantations and mechanical heart support. He also sees patients at Epworth Hospital Richmond, Cabrini Hospital and HeartWest Hoppers Crossing. He has special interests in thoracic surgical oncology, aortic stenting and minimally invasive surgery for atrial fibrillation. Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Zimmet is actively involved in clinical cardiothoracic training and is a training supervisor at The Alfred Hospital.
