About
Dr Sadiq was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists UK (FRCPsych) in 2021 for his dedication to high-quality patient care and leadership in service transformation, innovation, and quality improvement. He has extensive experience working within the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLAM), a globally renowned mental health organisation with strong academic and research affiliations. He currently leads a frontline community mental health team in South London and has worked in various other settings, including inpatient wards and crisis and home treatment teams.
As a leader in his field, Dr Sadiq has held several key management roles. He served as an Associate Medical Director for seven years and is the Mental Health Clinical and Professional Lead for NHS South East London Lewisham Integrated Care Board (ICB), where he plays a crucial role in developing and delivering mental health services in collaboration with local communities, voluntary sectors, and primary care partners. He has also led significant transformation projects, including the re-establishment of the acute and crisis pathway, reducing out-of-area admissions, community waiting times, and improving the length of stay with positive patient and carer feedback.
Dr Sadiq has a strong clinical interest in the diagnosis, management, and recovery of various mental health conditions, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), stress and trauma-related disorders, self-harm, relationship and personality issues, psychosis, and co-morbid drug and alcohol use. He collaborates closely with research experts in his organisation to ensure patients receive the most effective evidence-based care. Additionally, he has a clinical interest in assessing and managing adult ADHD and conducting mental capacity assessments, including capacity evaluations for financial management and legal reports.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr Sadiq is dedicated to education and training. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and serves as an examiner for the Royal College of Psychiatrists and King's Medical School. As a clinical and educational supervisor, he has recruited and managed numerous consultant psychiatrists over the years. His passion for mental health advocacy extends to community outreach, where he actively works to raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
