Dr Wagdy Mikhail is a Specialist Gastroenterologist with over 30 years of experience in the Middle East and the United Kingdom. He is based in Dubai and sees patients at United Medical Center, Mediclinic Deira and HealthHub. He completed his medical degree at Alexandria University, Egypt in 1972 and completed his specialist training in Internal Medicine in Kuwait and the UK. He was awarded a Diploma in Internal Medicine at Alexandria University in 1991.
Prior to joining United Medical Center in 2014, Dr Mikhail practiced at Rashid Hospital where he also trained in Gastroenterology. During his time at Rashid Hospital, he helped establish the Digestive Disease and Endoscopy Unit.
Dr Mikhail has expertise in the management of gastroenterological and hepatologic diseases, including liver diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, H. pylori infection, stomach conditions and abdominal conditions. He has performed over 25,000 upper and 16,000 lower endoscopies (both diagnostic and therapeutic). He offers many procedures at United Medical Center, including colonoscopy, polypectomy, urea breath testing, all types of gastric balloons, capsule endoscopy and FibroScan (hydrogen breath test).
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Mikhail held the position of Secretary General of the Emirates Gastroenterology Society as well as President of the society between 2007 and 2009. He has also been a Lecturer and Clinical Tutor at Dubai Medical School for Girls.
