He undertook specialist ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital, followed by a fellowship in comprehensive ophthalmology as Senior Registrar at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. He subsequently completed three additional subspecialty fellowships overseas, focusing on Medical Retina in Taiwan, Cataract and Refractive Surgery in Australia, and MSICS in the Solomon Islands and Alice Springs, Northern Territory. He was awarded the prestigious Sydney Eye Hospital Alumni Association Travelling Scholarship in recognition of his advanced training.
Dr Chen is committed to evidence-based practice and keeping pace with the latest advances in ophthalmology. He is actively involved in research, has authored several publications, and has presented his work at multiple conferences. He is also dedicated to medical education and has contributed to the training of future ophthalmologists as a former Clinical Associate Lecturer and current Adjunct Lecturer at the University of New South Wales.
