About

Dr Sarma is a highly experienced consultant psychiatrist, providing comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adults with both common and complex mental health conditions. Her clinical approach is thorough, evidence-based, and person-centred, with careful attention to the psychological, biological, and social factors influencing mental wellbeing.

Her clinical skills include managing complex presentations involving co-existing mental health, neurodevelopmental, physical health, trauma-related, and psychosocial needs. She places strong emphasis on accurate diagnosis and personalised care planning, including medication optimisation, psychological treatment recommendations, and reasonable adjustments for neurodivergent individuals. She has expertise in the management of Autism and ADHD, holding UKAAN accreditation for ADHD and having completed the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ National Autism Training Programme (Enhanced).

She holds accreditation in addictions psychiatry and has extensive experience in the assessment and management of dual diagnosis, and providing an integrated and holistic approach to addictions treatment. She is also EMDR accredited and regularly incorporates trauma-informed approaches into clinical practice.

Her practice is underpinned by a strong academic and research background. She holds an MSc in Psychiatric Research (King’s College London) and has been Principal Investigator for multiple research studies, which ensures that her clinical work remains aligned with the latest evidence and best practice guidelines. She is also a Royal College of Psychiatrists examiner, an experienced clinical and educational supervisor, and a mentor for new Consultant Psychiatrists.

She is known for her calm, collaborative, and transparent approach, taking time to listen carefully and explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly. She works in partnership with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to deliver holistic, practical, and compassionate psychiatric care.
