Dr Achjian moved to the US to do her residency in obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of Texas Medical Branch after earning her medical degree from the American University of Beirut. She received numerous prizes when she completed her training program. She then accepted a position as an assistant professor on the University of Texas Medical Branch faculty. The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology has certified Dr Achjian. She belongs to the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
She also has a Master of Public Health from Philadelphia's Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr Achjian holds medical licenses in Texas, California, and Abu Dhabi. She continues to work as a visiting attending at California Hospitals.
She speaks Arabic, English, and Armenian with ease. She also speaks a little bit of Spanish and French.
