About
Dr. Malhi earned his medical degree (MBChB) from the University of Birmingham in 1997, followed by postgraduate qualifications including membership in the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and an MSc with distinction in Neuroscience from King’s College London. He further advanced his skills with an MBA from the prestigious London Business School.
His clinical roles include extensive experience in general adult psychiatry and sub-specialties such as forensic and addiction psychiatry during his tenure with The London Deanery. As a Consultant Psychiatrist at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, he led a community Assessment and Treatment Team, focusing on care delivery in diverse and deprived areas. Later, as Associate Medical Director, he managed 27 consultant psychiatrists across acute, crisis, and community services, overseeing governance, operational quality, and workforce planning.
Dr. Malhi also held leadership roles at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, where he contributed to quality improvement projects, and served as a specialist at McKinsey & Company, applying his expertise to healthcare consultancy. His research background includes a role as Research Associate at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, with published work on the neuropsychopharmacological effects of cannabis.
