Dr Overmeire is an Occupational Physician and a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM). They are also a member of the AFOEM WA Committee and an elected representative on AFOEM Federal Council. Dr Overmeire is a trainee supervisor and regularly involved in Faculty training activities. As an advocate for the Health Benefits of Good Work, they delivered a keynote address on this topic at the 2015 WorkCover WA Injury Management Conference.
Dr Overmeire has worked in a variety of industries and professions with diverse occupational health requirements. These include mining, manufacturing, transport, fire and emergency services, government services, retail, health and aged care. Dr Overmeire has held an in-house position at the Metropolitan Police Service in London, where they achieved a significant reduction in absenteeism by introducing a collaborative injury management system.
Dr Overmeire previously held an in-house position at New South Wales Fire Brigades.
