He trained at London’s leading hospitals including the Hammersmith, Royal Brompton, Guys and St Thomas' and Kings College Hospitals. Dr Mahendran has trained in both scientific and clinical research leading to the award of a PhD in Respiratory Immunology. He was the lead researcher for Covid-19 trials at Kingston Hospital including the ground-breaking Recovery trial and continues to provide expert guidance to other clinical teams and committees in this and other areas. He has advanced training in bronchoscopy and ultrasound guided pleural procedures and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians where he is also an Examiner in post-graduate exams.
