Dr Sinan Albayati is a highly experienced General Surgeon with a subspecialist interest in colorectal surgery, managing a broad spectrum of complex gastrointestinal conditions. He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Otago, New Zealand, in 2004, and went on to achieve Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2012.
Building on his surgical training, Dr Albayati completed a Master of Surgery in Colorectal Surgery at the University of Sydney. He also holds a PhD from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), where his research explored both non-surgical and surgical approaches, including robotic techniques, in the treatment of rectal prolapse.
He completed advanced colorectal training across several major teaching hospitals, including Liverpool, Westmead, and Bankstown Hospitals, gaining extensive experience in both routine and complex procedures. As well as this he is a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand.
Dr Albayati’s clinical interests include colorectal and bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and rectal prolapse. He is proficient in modern surgical techniques such as minimally invasive procedures, colonoscopy, anterior resection, Hartmann’s procedure reversal, and laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy, with a focus on delivering effective, patient-centred care.
