In 2004, he gained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and went on to complete a Fellowship at East Carolina University in the United States, focusing on minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery under the renowned mitral valve and robotic surgeon, Dr. Randolph Chitwood III. Mr Moten is a recognised expert in the insertion of sutureless aortic valves and an advocate of minimally invasive cardiac and thoracic surgery procedures. Mr Moten is a member of a number of professional organisations including the Australian and New Zealand Society of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons, the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, and the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery.
