About Mr Simon Bick
I work in Bristol, performing primary and revision hip replacement surgery. I have a patient-centred approach and pride myself on personal, professional and surgical attention to detail. I work across several hospitals in Bristol - NHS work at Southmead Hospital, Private work at Spire Bristol and Nuffield Bristol Hospitals. I am currently the departmental Hip Lead, and complete over 180 joint replacements a year in addition to a full trauma service at Southmead Hospital, NHS (North Bristol NHS Trust). I use implants with excellent survivorship verified by the National Joint Registry (NJR) and Orthopaedic Data Panel Evaluation (ODEP) databases. My surgical techniques and outcomes are published online through the NJR. I am actively involved in training the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons in the region. I trained in Cape Town, South Africa, qualified as an Orthopaedic Surgeon there in 2011, and moved to Bristol in 2012 to undertake specialist fellowship training. I undertook three full years of fellowship training – in knee surgery, hip surgery and Major Trauma Centre trauma surgery at Southmead Hospital, underthe guidance of several prestigious local surgeons. I completed my FRCS (Eng) Trauma and Orthopaedic specialist examinations and was awarded my Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2015. I have been on the GMC specialist register since 2015. I work at Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust, as a hip and trauma consultant surgeon. I served as the Clinical Governance Lead and Audit Lead for over three years in the department of Trauma and Orthopaedics at Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust. I remain an active colleague appraiser of clinical practice at Southmead Hospital.
