Dr Samir Shah is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist and a Medical Director at Priory Hospital Altrincham. He specialises in the assessment and management of mental health conditions, with a particular interest and expertise in adult ADHD, mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, psychosis, phobias, stress-related conditions and occupational mental health.

Dr Shah graduated from the University of Mumbai in 2002 with a Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). In the UK, he then completed his postgraduate psychiatric training across Greater Manchester hospitals and was awarded Membership to the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2009. As a specialist registrar, Dr Shah gained further experience in Psychiatry including liaison psychiatry. In addition, he holds an MSc degree in Psychiatry from the highly-regarded University of Manchester and a PGDiploma in Health and Public Leadership (NorthWest Medical Leadership Programme).

In recognition of his significant contribution to the field of psychiatry, he was elected as a Fellow of the prestigious Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych) in 2021. He was also shortlisted for the Psychiatrist of the Year award in 2020, at the RCPsych NW Division.

With his priority always being to provide the best care and support to his patients, Dr Shah's approach includes consideration of the biological, psychological, and social factors impacting wellbeing, with a particular focus on stress and resilience. Dr Shah has held leadership positions within the NHS as college tutor, lead consultant, and clinical director prior to joining Priory Group.
