Samawal Alsammoua is a highly experienced Consultant Gynaecologist with over 20 years of clinical practice in obstetrics and gynaecology. He qualified in 1998 and has worked extensively across the UK, as well as internationally.
He completed his specialist training within the Glasgow University Hospitals, gaining broad expertise in general obstetrics and gynaecology, urogynaecology, and advanced gynaecological and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. He also developed significant experience in the management of gynaecological cancers.
Mr Alsammoua currently practices at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, working at Worthing and Southlands Hospitals. He serves as the Lead Clinician for Gynaecological Cancers at Worthing Hospital, where he runs fast-track, one-stop clinics and chairs multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to ensure coordinated and timely patient care.
In addition to his clinical role, he is Chair of the Sussex Gynaecological Tumour Group and leads on gynaecology risk management within the Trust, reflecting his commitment to patient safety and service improvement.
His clinical practice covers the full spectrum of gynaecology, with particular expertise in complex laparoscopic surgery, colposcopy, and the screening, diagnosis and treatment of gynaecological cancers. He is especially focused on delivering efficient, patient-centred care through streamlined diagnostic pathways.
Mr Alsammoua is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, and the British Gynaecological Cancer Society.
