About

Dr Sam Martin is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in the treatment of hip and knee conditions, including joint replacement surgery, sports injuries, and complex reconstruction procedures. He is passionate about providing personalised care, taking the time to understand each patient’s lifestyle, goals, and concerns before recommending treatment options.

After graduating with Honours from the University of Tasmania in 2000, Dr Martin completed his specialist Orthopaedic Surgery training in Queensland, obtaining Fellowship of both the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA) in 2010. Dr Martin further refined his expertise through an international fellowship in hip and knee surgery in Europe, where he gained valuable insights into advanced surgical techniques and evidence-based best practices.

In 2012, Dr Martin established The Specialist Orthopaedic Centre in Grafton, NSW, where he continues to care for patients across the Clarence Valley and surrounding regions. His approach focuses on achieving the best possible functional outcomes while supporting patients through every stage of their treatment journey, from diagnosis and surgical planning to recovery and rehabilitation.

Dr Martin remains actively engaged in ongoing education and research to stay at the forefront of orthopaedic innovation. He maintains professional affiliations with leading organisations including:

• Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA)

• Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS)

• International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS)

Patients often value Dr Martin’s clear communication, empathetic manner, and commitment to providing care tailored to individual needs.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
