About Dr Dr Paul O'Farrell
Dr. Paul O'Farrell is an experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist. Graduating with first-class honours in medicine from the University of Sydney in 1997, Dr. O'Farrell also holds a Bachelor of Arts in music, psychology, and philosophy. His extensive training included physician training at St Vincent’s Hospital, followed by advanced gastroenterology training at Royal North Shore Hospital. He also undertook an elective year at St Vincent’s Hospital, focusing on immunosuppressed patients and therapeutic endoscopy. Dr. O'Farrell became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2004.In 2006-2007, Dr. O'Farrell was appointed as a Teaching Fellow in gastroenterology at Harvard University, USA, while simultaneously completing a fellowship in interventional gastroenterology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre in Boston.Dr. O'Farrell currently practices as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Northern Beaches Hospital, and holds appointments at Pittwater Day Surgery and Dee Why Endoscopy. His clinical interests span bowel cancer screening, liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, nutrition, and providing patient-centred care for both younger and older patients with digestive conditions.He is an accredited diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopist, certified by the Conjoint Committee in Endoscopy, and maintains memberships with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA), the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), the Australian Association of Consultant Physicians (AACP), and the Australian Medical Association (AMA).
