About Dr Richard Bowskill
Dr. Richard Bowskill is a Consultant Psychiatrist. Dr. Bowskill read medicine at Cambridge University where they also obtained a Masters Degree in experimental psychology. They completed their training at Guy's Hospital in London where their interests in psychiatry developed. Dr. Bowskill then completed their membership of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Psychiatrists. During their training, Dr. Bowskill worked at the national unit for affective disorders at the Maudsley Hospital for two years. It was here where they developed an interest in the treatment of depression. Dr. Bowskill is an honorary clinical senior lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. They work part-time at the Sussex Partnership NHS trust. Dr. Bowskill was Deputy Head of the Post Graduate Medical School and led the development of the psychiatry curriculum at Brighton and Sussex Medical School for the school's first ten years. Dr. Bowskill was also Medical Director at the Priory Hospital Brighton & Hove. They were also the National Clinical Director of Addictions at the Priory Group. Dr. Bowskill lead the Clinical Academic Group for Bipolar Affective Disorders and is the Deputy Chair for the Mood and Anxiety Clinical Academic Group at the Sussex Partnership NHS Trust and is now the Acute Clinical Lead for Brighton and Hove. Dr. Bowskill has been providing medico-legal reports for over 16 years and provides approximately 25 reports per annum civil and criminal, attendance at Magistrate, Family and Crown Court. They have a particular interest in providing reports for personal injury and clinical negligence matters and cases of a complex nature. They have undertaken the Bond Solon Report Writing and Court Skills training and have a special interest in affective disorders (including bipolar) especially recognition, diagnosis and psychopharmacology for treatment resistance.
