Dr Reem Albassam is a Consultant and Assistant Professor of Clinical Nutrition. She has a professional focus on the connections between dietary habits and health, particularly in relation to cardiometabolic diseases, weight management, and sports performance. Her work involves developing tools to accurately measure nutritional intake and knowledge, aiming to translate clinical findings into practical dietary advice for patients.
Dr Albassam's research interests include nutritional epidemiology, the impact of specific nutrients on conditions like metabolic syndrome, and the relationship between diet and mental health. She actively investigates how personal diet and lifestyle choices can influence health outcomes, contributing to preventative healthcare strategies.
She obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nutrition and Food Sciences from the University of Maryland in the USA in 2016. Prior to this, she earned a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition in 2007 and a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Nutrition in 2000, both from King Saud University. Dr Albassam is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society.
