About Mr Ran Li
Mr Ran Li is a highly skilled specialist breast cancer surgeon based in Perth, with expertise in advanced oncoplastic breast surgery techniques designed to achieve the best possible oncological and cosmetic outcomes. In addition to breast cancer surgery, he provides breast reconstruction, breast reduction, revision surgery, and lipomodelling, alongside a range of general surgery procedures including thyroid, parathyroid, laparoscopic hernia, and gallbladder surgery. Mr Li graduated from the University of Melbourne Medical School in 2010 and completed his general surgical training through the Royal Melbourne Hospital in 2018. He subsequently moved to Perth to undertake a breast surgery fellowship at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH), before completing further subspecialty fellowship training in oncoplastic breast and endocrine surgery at the Nightingale & Genesis Breast Cancer Centre, University Hospital of South Manchester. There, he trained with leading breast and plastic surgeons in advanced oncoplastic techniques. Currently, Mr Li is the coordinator of the Breast Cancer Multidisciplinary Team at SCGH and leads the high-risk breast cancer clinic, managing patients with significant family history or high-risk gene mutations and offering risk-reducing mastectomies with immediate reconstruction. He consults at Perth Breast Cancer Institute, Hollywood Consulting Centre, and operates at Hollywood Private Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, and Osborne Park Hospital. Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Li is actively engaged in research and teaching. He completed a PhD through the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre on HER2-positive breast cancer and immunotherapy, supported by prestigious awards including the NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarship, National Breast Cancer Foundation Scholarship, and RACS Foundation for Surgery Research Scholarship. His work has earned international recognition, including the Basic Science Scholar Award at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium and the RJS Thomas Translational Research Prize. He has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals such as the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology, and Cancer Cell, and has been cited over 500 times.
