Dr Raaj Chandra practises colorectal surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Box Hill Hospital. He also holds consultations with private patients at Epworth Eastern Hospital and Melbourne Private Hospital.

Dr Chandra's areas of interest are as follows:

Dr Chandra uses minimally invasive procedures where possible, and specialises in ‘keyhole' surgery.

He qualified in 1998 from the University of Tasmania, after first completing a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Science. Following this, he became a senior medical officer in the Royal Australian Air Force until 2006, where he achieved a number of medals including the United Nations Medal, the Australian Service Medal, and the Australian Defence Force Medal.

Dr Chandra undertook post-fellowship training in colorectal surgery at St Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne Hospital, and the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He is actively involved in clinical research at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Box Hill Hospital and has published a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Chandra also has a passion for teaching and earned a Master's Degree in surgical education from Imperial College London. He is currently an adjunct senior lecturer at Monash University Medical School whilst also training advanced surgical trainees in general surgery, and fellowship trainees in colorectal surgery.
