About Prof Simon Taylor
Professor Simon Taylor is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with a special interest in cataracts, glaucoma and retinal disease. He graduated from the University of Cambridge before training as an ophthalmic surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital. His research training was at the MRC Clinical Sciences Centre and he was awarded a PhD from Imperial College London in 2009. Professor Taylor was Director of Research & Development for the Royal Surrey County Hospital from 2014 to 2017, and was awarded the title Professor of Ophthalmology in 2015. Professor Taylor treats patients with many ophthalmic problems but has a particular interest in retinal disease and in cataract and glaucoma surgery. He has an international reputation in the treatment of retinal and inflammatory ocular diseases having lectured widely on these subjects and has published over 100 academic papers.
