About Prof Martyn Snow
Professor Martyn Snow is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, which is 1 of only 5 purely Orthopaedic Hospitals in the country. His undergraduate medical training was completed at University of Edinburgh and his specialist training in the Manchester region. Additionally, he spent 18 months on a fellowship in North America including 12 months undertaking a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Sports Medicine Clinic of Nova Scotia. He gained further experience in shoulder and knee surgery by spending 6 months at the Holland Orthopaedic and Arthritic Centre in Toronto. In 2008 Prof. Snow was awarded the British Elbow and Shoulder Society - North American travelling fellowship, visiting leading shoulder surgeons across America. In 2018 he was also awarded the ESSKA/APKAS travelling fellowship, visisting centres across Asia and Australia. Professor Snow is heavily involved in research, having published over 60 papers in various international medical journals and written 6 book chapters on knee and shoulder injuries. He regularly presents papers at various national and international meetings. His current research grant awards are in excess of £3,000,000. His interests involves the use of stem cells for cartilage and tendon repair, bone marrow concentrate, and osteotomy. In 2006, he completed an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University and has since designed his own fixation device for use in ACL reconstruction, which is currently on sale worldwide. In addition, he is an invited faculty member on numerous national and international courses, teaching surgeons the latest techniques in arthroscopic surgery.
