Professor Hormis is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine. Professor Hormis is the President of the British Society of Orthopaedic Anaesthetists (BSOA). Their areas of interest include Orthopaedic Anaesthesia, Regional Anaesthesia of the Upper and Lower Limb and Revision Hip and Knee replacements. They also have an interest in Anaesthesia for General Surgery and Gynaecology, as well as Critical Care Medicine.

Professor Hormis qualified from the University of Sheffield in 2000. They are a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) and a Fellow of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FFICM). They are also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS).
