About Dr Peter Cackett

Dr. Peter Cackett, Consultant Ophthalmologist at Nuffield Health Edinburgh Hospital, specialises in medical retina conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusions, and diabetic retinopathy. He completed his medical training at the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London, qualifying in 1995, he also received an intercalated BSc in anatomy during his training. Following his initial foundation training and a series of junior doctor posts in England and Australia, Dr. Cackett pursued ophthalmology surgical training in Glasgow and Edinburgh. In 2007, he trained as an International Fellow at the Singapore National Eye Centre, gaining further expertise in medical retina. Since 2008, Dr. Cackett has been a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion in Edinburgh, where he serves as the clinical lead for the medical retina department. He also organises the undergraduate Ophthalmology module for medical students at the University of Edinburgh. With over 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications, Dr. Cackett is a recognised expert in his field.
