Orthopaedic Surgery
About
Mr Middleton has broad expertise across the full spectrum of knee pathology, including cartilage defects and injuries, meniscal tears, ligament injuries such as ACL, PCL and complex multi-ligament damage, patellofemoral pain and instability, and knee arthritis with degenerative joint disease. His clinical focus is on helping patients reduce pain, restore mobility and return to sport or active lifestyles as safely and efficiently as possible.
He is widely recognised for his expertise in arthroscopic (keyhole) knee surgery, offering minimally invasive techniques that support quicker recovery and reduced postoperative discomfort. Using arthroscopy, he treats a wide range of conditions including meniscal repair or resection, cartilage repair procedures, ligament reconstruction and patellofemoral joint stabilisation, enabling many patients to achieve excellent outcomes with minimal downtime.
In addition to surgical care, Mr Middleton provides a comprehensive range of non-operative treatments for knee pain and arthritis, including lifestyle modification, physiotherapy-guided rehabilitation and targeted injection therapies. His approach is highly personalised, ensuring each patient receives the most appropriate treatment for their condition, goals and activity level.
Alongside his private practice, Mr Middleton plays a key role in the NHS, where he focuses on knee surgery and general trauma surgery, managing a wide range of acute orthopaedic injuries requiring timely and expert care. He is a GMC-recognised trainer and serves as a clinical supervisor for orthopaedic trainees within his NHS department.
Mr Middleton is also an experienced medicolegal expert witness, preparing approximately 100 medicolegal reports each year across a broad range of orthopaedic and trauma-related cases.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
