Dr Oliver White
Psychiatry
About
He provides detailed, personalised assessments of children and young people who present with mental health difficulties and promotes the involvement of families, GP, schools or colleges, in a child's treatment. Dr. White primarily uses psychological therapy to support recovery but may also recommend medication when necessary.
In addition, Dr. White has also been working in NHS mental health services since 2003, providing forensic child and adolescent mental health services in both community and inpatient settings. He has a particular interest in patients with emerging personality disorders as well as those transitioning from child or adolescent psychiatric care into adult psychiatric care.
Dr White attended Nottingham University Medical School before working as a junior doctor in the UK and Australia. He went on to complete his core psychiatric training in Nottingham and became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych). He then undertook higher specialist psychiatric training in Oxford, receiving dual qualifications and accreditations in child and adolescent psychiatry and forensic psychiatry.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr White also undertakes medico-legal work, preparing reports for criminal courts, family courts, and civil cases. He has also undertaken research on various topics throughout his career, including child maltreatment recurrence. His current work is on outcomes in secure adolescent inpatient care.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
