About Mr Oliver Chan
Mr Oliver Chan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in foot and ankle surgery. He completed his undergraduate medical training at University College London before undertaking higher orthopaedic training within the Kent, Surrey and Sussex deanery. After achieving his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2020, he further advanced his expertise through two nationally renowned fellowships at Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital and King’s College London, focusing on all aspects of foot and ankle surgery, including high-volume elective procedures, complex trauma, and diabetic foot pathology. Committed to staying at the forefront of surgical innovation, Mr Chan has also completed a mini-fellowship in minimally invasive foot and ankle techniques. He was appointed as a Consultant at Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2021 and is the lead foot and ankle surgeon at the West Middlesex site. Since his appointment, Mr Chan has played a key role in service development and quality improvement. He has been instrumental in enhancing foot and ankle services within the trust, developing clinical pathways and guidelines, and introducing a Virtual Fracture Clinic at the Chelsea site, significantly reducing waiting times. He currently leads both the Virtual Fracture Clinic and initiatives focused on the prevention of blood clots at the West Middlesex site. In addition to his clinical work, Mr Chan is actively involved in research and education. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national and international conferences, and completed two higher research degrees. His strong grounding in research and critical appraisal supports his evidence-based approach to patient care. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and contributes to teaching as faculty on exam courses, a lecturer for medical students at University College London and King’s College London, and as an educational and clinical supervisor for doctors in training.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
