About Mr Myutan Kulendran
Mr Myutan Kulendran is a consultant gastrointestinal surgeon whose private clinic is based in Marylebone, London. He also sees patients at King Edward VII’s Hospital in Marylebone, Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon, and Mayo Clinic Healthcare in Marylebone, and holds an NHS consultant post at St George’s Hospital in Tooting. He specialises in bariatric (weight-loss) surgery, reflux and hiatus hernia surgery, and complex upper gastrointestinal procedures, delivered with minimally invasive and robotic techniques. His private practice covers the full spectrum of weight-loss care, including sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and ‘mini’ gastric bypass, as well as revisional surgery for complications or weight regain. He provides comprehensive reflux and upper GI care within a multidisciplinary pathway, offering tailored investigation, surgical management and long-term follow-up. He also offers medically supervised weight-loss programmes, including tirzepatide-based therapy, with structured monitoring by a specialist team. In general surgery, he provides elective and emergency care using modern laparoscopic approaches. Mr Kulendran is a high-volume bariatric and upper GI surgeon and a faculty member of the Royal College of Surgeons, involved in training future bariatric surgeons. At St George’s he is developing robotic upper gastrointestinal and endoscopic bariatric services in collaboration with specialist dietitians, gastroenterologists and GI physiologists to ensure evidence-based, patient-centred pathways. He graduated MBBS from St George’s, University of London in 2007 with a First-Class BSc in Physiology, then undertook formal research at Imperial College London leading to a PhD in weight-loss science. His higher surgical training was in South London, mainly at St George’s Hospital and the Royal Marsden Hospital, focusing on upper GI and hepatobiliary surgery, followed by a high-volume bariatric fellowship at Homerton Hospital in London. He was appointed as a consultant in 2021.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
