Miss Alison Hunt is a general Ear, Nose & Throat Surgeon with a specialist interest in otology, (problems of the ear). All ages can be catered for, as hearing problems can affect people at any time of life, so she sees both children and adults in her practise. In addition she has an interest in aesthetics and offers cosmetic/injectable treatments alongside her other interests. She works in NHS and private arenas. Her private clinics are run at the Saxon clinic MK and Alician Healthcare, Buckingham.
Miss Hunt trainined at Guy's, Kings and St Thomas' Hospitals in London, qualifying in 1999, having undertaken an interalated BSc., in immuniology. This was funded by the univeristy via a bursary for high academic undergraduate achievement. She then pursued a career in Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery. Her senior training was at the John Radcliffe University Teaching Hospital in Oxford. She received a senior fellowship in Otology in the Oxford deanery, gaining experience in a wide range of mastoid and middle ear surgery, such as ossiculoplasty, stapes surgery, mastoid surgery as well as cochlear implantation, all under the guidance of internationally renowned otologists. She has worked as an independent ENT consultant for over a decade.
Academically, Miss Hunt is a keen teacher and was responsible for developing the special senses aspect of the course for medical students at the UK's first private medical school (Buckingham Medical School). She was a lead for syllabus development, lectured and has been a clinical examiner for final BMS. She taught anatomy at Oxford University. She has also been invited to teach at national training courses for final FRCS-ORL examinations (Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery), training the next generation of consultants. She has published widely, including book chapters in seminal text such as Scott-Brown (ossiculoplasty), and viva text books. She has two children and a train obsessed husband.
