Mr Tariq Zaman is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in surgery of the hand, wrist, shoulder and elbow. He works at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, where he is the Upper Limb Lead at the Ealing site.
He qualified in medicine from the University of Dundee in 1988 and completed his postgraduate orthopaedic training through a series of Senior House Officer posts in the Birmingham region, including a period as an Anatomy Demonstrator at the University of Birmingham. He undertook Specialist Registrar training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in Wales, with posts in Swansea, Carmarthen, Newport and the Cardiff Royal Infirmary.
Mr Zaman completed specialist upper limb fellowships at the Reading Shoulder Unit and through an AO Fellowship in Salzburg, Austria. He was also awarded an EFORT travelling fellowship in 2003 by the Royal College of Surgeons. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1995 and again in 2002.
His clinical practice covers general orthopaedic and trauma conditions of the upper limb, including arthroscopic and joint replacement procedures of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. In addition to his clinical work, he is involved in research into upper limb conditions and has presented at national meetings, including the British Elbow and Shoulder Society annual meeting.
Mr Zaman also contributes to undergraduate medical education and provides teaching for medical students at Imperial College of Medicine. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Elbow and Shoulder Society, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the Royal Society of Medicine.
