After qualifying from Nottingham Medical School, Mr. Hornby pursued a

diverse range of specialized training opportunities. His early experience

includes a trauma surgery elective in Houston, Texas, followed by basic surgical training in Lincoln and Nottingham.  His higher surgical training was obtained throughout the Southwest of England. He completed his training with an Upper GI Fellowship at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, and an observership at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong. These experiences have provided him with a global perspective on patient care and have enriched his ability to offer the highest quality of service.

Mr. Hornby’s clinical interests encompass a broad spectrum of Upper

Gastrointestinal (GI) conditions, including oesophagogastric cancer, advanced

robotic surgery, and both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. He also

specializes in treating benign upper GI conditions, such as gallstone disease

and hernias, with a strong focus on enhancing patient outcomes and quality of

life. His approach combines the latest technological advances with a deep

commitment to improving the health and well-being of his patients.

In addition to his clinical practice, Mr. Hornby is a passionate surgical

educator. He has designed and led several courses aimed at improving both

technical and non-technical surgical skills, believing that continuous

education is vital for advancing patient care. His leadership roles with the

Association of Surgeons in Training, where he served as President and Director

of Education, reflect his commitment to shaping the future of surgery. In

recognition of his contributions, he was awarded Membership of the Faculty of

Surgical Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2013.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Hornby is a dedicated family man. His

wife, a talented physiotherapist and pilates instructor, and their two

energetic young boys, keep him grounded and emphasize the importance of

work-life balance. In his spare time, he enjoys walking, learning to cook,

woodworking, learning Spanish, and practising Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

Mr. Hornby is focussed on ensuring that each patient he treats receives the

highest standard of care, and he is committed to working collaboratively with

his patients to achieve the best possible outcomes for their health and

well-being.
