Professor Muhammad Shamim Khan is a highly recognised Consultant Urologist and Reader in Urology at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College School of Medicine in London. He also consults privately at London Bridge Hospital and London Clinic.
Professor Khan completed his medical degree at the University of Karachi, Pakistan in 1979. His clinical practice primarily focuses on the management of bladder cancer. He also has expertise in female incontinence as well as performing vasectomy and its reversal. Professor Khan was the first urological surgeon to establish the robotic cystectomy programme in the UK which gained him recognition among his fellow surgeons as well as improved recovery for numerous future patients.
Alongside his expert clinical practice, Professor Khan's research work includes over 150 peer-viewed papers. His humanitarian work towards introducing innovation in healthcare was awarded an OBE in 2007. He is also the current Director of the British Association of Urological Surgeons Office of Education and thus is heavily involved in teaching and training those in his field of expertise on a national and international scale.
