Senthurun initially qualified as a doctor in 2003, at the Royal Free and University College London Medical School, prior to which he completed his Bachelor's degree in Pharmacology at University College London. After completing his medical degree, he completed his specialist training with the National Oncoplastic Breast fellowship, who only select the top UK graduates for this training programme. After completing his specialist registrar training, he became a fellow at University Hospitals Birmingham. He was later appointed as Consultant Oncoplastic Breast surgeon at the Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals Trust. He is also a professional clinical advisor in surgery to the NHS Breast screening programme and a member of the Association of Breast Surgery Clinical Practice and Standards Committee, part of the board who is responsible for national breast surgery practice standards for the UK.
