Mr Sean Carrie is a Consultant ENT Surgeon working at the Freeman Hospital, and he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University. He has a had a broad training and ongoing practice across the generality of ENT Surgery. His sub-speciality interests include conditions of the nose and sinuses in both adults and paediatrics.
He qualified from Medicine in 1988 from the University of Aberdeen, before completing specialist ENT training, as well as fellowship training in Cape Town.
Mr Carrie currently holds the position as President of the European Rhinologic Society and is also the Past President of the British Rhinological Society. He enjoys teaching undergraduates and postgraduates on ENT conditions and he actively carries out research on sinonasal inflammation nasal blockage and recurrent tonsillitis. He has been awarded prestigious National Institute of Health Research grants for studying the effectiveness of nasal septal surgery and tonsillectomy.
He is a strong patient advocate and as such has an advsiory role on the smell disorders charity Fifth Sense. He is an regular appraiser of medical colleagues.
