About
He provides a comprehensive service in general adult and paediatric otolaryngology and manages a wide range of ear, nose and throat conditions. His specialist interests include diseases of the ear, balance disorders, paediatric ENT and hearing restoration, and his practice includes the assessment and treatment of hearing loss, balance and vestibular problems, middle ear disease, sinus and nasal pathology, sleep-related breathing disorders and snoring. His procedural work includes diagnostic ENT assessment and endoscopy, adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy in adults, grommet insertion for glue ear, myringoplasty, middle ear surgery, stapedectomy, cochlear implants, Bonebridge and Vibrant Soundbridge middle ear implants, endoscopic sinus surgery, Balloon Sinuplasty, surgery for nasal obstruction and nasal polyps, laryngoscopy and pharyngoscopy, lymph node biopsy, salivary gland excision, and excision of benign skin lesions including split earlobe repair. He is a surgeon with the St George’s Cochlear Implant Programme.
Mr Harris qualified in medicine from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1996, having previously completed an intercalated Bachelor of Science with Honours in Anatomy and Molecular Genetics in 1993. He undertook early surgical training on the Hammersmith Hospitals rotation before specialising in ENT. His higher specialist registrar training was completed in the South West Thames region, based at St George’s Hospital and finishing at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. During this period he obtained a Master’s degree in Audio-Vestibular Medicine from the University of London for research and a major thesis on balance and hearing disorders in adults and children at the Institute of Child Health. He subsequently gained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow and was entered on the General Medical Council Specialist Register in ENT.
He has held a number of competitive scholarships supporting overseas fellowships in Otology and Cochlear Implant surgery in Sydney and in Paediatric ENT in Paris. Mr Harris is Consultant in ENT and Care Group Lead at St George’s NHS Foundation Trust and Croydon Health Services. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow and a member of ENT UK, the British Medical Association, the British Association of Paediatric Otorhinolaryngologists, the Royal Society of Medicine, the Otorhinolaryngological Research Society, the Medical Protection Society and the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery.
