He further honed his skills through fellowships in advanced laparoscopic HPB surgery at Kings College Hospital, London, and multi-organ retrieval and Liver transplantation at the Royal Free Hospital, London. Additionally, he gained experience in advanced laparoscopic HPB Surgery at Seoul National University.

In 2010, Mr. Marudanayagam was appointed as a Consultant HPB Surgeon at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. He is actively involved in research and serves as a Principal/ Co-investigator in numerous European and International trials. His primary interest lies in advanced laparoscopic liver and pancreatic resections, and he has contributed significantly to the field with over 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Mr. Marudanayagam is passionate about training and holds the position of a Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) member to the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He also serves as the Educational Lead for the Minimally Invasive Liver and Pancreatic Association- UK (MILAP-UK).

His clinical interests include liver and pancreatic resections for both benign diseases and cancers, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, and advanced laparoscopic HPB Surgery. He specialises in liver resection for hilar cholangiocarcinoma and treats various conditions such as gallstones, gallbladder cancer, liver adenoma, hepatocellular cancer, secondary liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, pancreatic cysts, pancreatitis, splenic cyst, and other splenic conditions.

Mr. Marudanayagam is a member of several professional organisations, including the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA), European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA), Great Britain and Ireland Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (GBIHPBA), Association of Upper GI Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (AUGIS), Pancreatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland (PSGBI), International Laparoscopic Liver Society (ILLS), and Minimally Invasive Liver and Pancreatic Surgery- UK (MILAP-UK).
